Godlike Meal: A Sambo Kojin Review

Lately when there’s a reason to celebrate, we usually end up celebrating at Sambo Kojin. Ever wondered what the name means?

Sambo Kojin = God of the Kitchen

Or at least that’s what Jex, our waiter, told us. Apparently, Sambo Kojin is the name of the Japanese Kitchen god. Good guy Jex, always ready to take our requests. We didn’t need to call him to refill our iced teas; he just asks us right away when he sees that our glasses need some filling. Service-oriented waiters: ten points for Sambo Kojin!

We went to the Eastwood branch as usual because it’s closest to where we work. Sambo Kojin offers primarily Japanese and Korean specialties, which are laid out like a buffet. You pick whichever you like and cook the raw food when you get to your tables. 

I personally love the Yakiniku and Sushi Bar section (I’m a carnivore!). I always have a plate of Maki and Sushi with me. This way, I can start eating something while I’m waiting for my beef slices to get cooked.

I’m not sure if it’s always this way but when we last visited, in the Yakiniku section, the topmost row has tender beef, the middle row has marble beef, and last row has chicken. Try asking for Sambo Kojin when you’re choosing meats, it goes well with the Sambo Kojin sauce!

Speaking of sauces, I usually have Teriyaki, Sambokojin, then Sesame Oil (just because I love oily food). Ponzu Sauce goes well with seafood.

The desserts are just okay, nothing special about them. Well you’re not there for the dessert anyways. I’m happy about the ice cream though because I can have as much as I want! And with sprinkles and chocolate syrup!

If I were you, I’d also ask for a bottomless drink. You need lotsa liquids to wash all those meat down.

Sambo Kojin is open from 11am – 2pm and 6pm – 10pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, it’s open from 11am – 2pm and 5:30pm – 10pm. There are usually the most people there on Friday and Saturday dinner times and Sunday lunch.

Dinner – Php 599.00 (Mondays to Fridays)

Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays – Php 649.00

Children below 4 ft. – Php 299.00

And oh, no leftovers! Although it hasn’t really happened to us yet, they charge Php 200.00 for leftovers.
