Fun, Friends, and Food: Maginhawa Foodtrip
Anyone who has been to Maginhawa Street at Teacher’s Village
Quezon city would know that it is a haven for great-tasting food. From burgers
to buffets and lots of milk tea, Maginhawa is definitely a great place to visit
if you wish to go on a palatable adventure. I have tried different restaurants
around the place since I used to live at Teacher’s Village, but there are lots
of new and interesting food establishments there right now that I felt I’m
missing a lot for not trying at least a few of them. More reason why going on a
food trip with my friends around Maginhawa was such a great idea.
We called it, “Maginhawa Food Trip”. Yeah I know we can be
more creative than that but the name serves its purpose. Technically though, we didn’t
just explore Maginahawa, we also got to Malingap and even in UP. Here was our
itinerary:
Maginhawa Street Restaurants
LUNCH: Jek’s Ku-bo: Bulalo at Ulo-ulo.
This place
is relatively new, it opened just last year. Their bulalo is one of the best
that I have ever tried. And very affordable too! Jek and Kuya Boy put up the place together, hence the restaurant's name. See me review here.

Bulalo - Ku-bo's must-have specialty |
DESSERT: Moonleaf Tea Shop at Maginhawa.
We enjoyed
the desserts as much as the milk teas! I would love to have more of those Red
Velvet sandwiches again. And we also got an extra Banana Milk Tea for free! Yay
for free drinks! Check out my review here.

The Banana Milk Tea that we had for free for purchasing at least 2 drinks. |
Red Velvet sandwich. The best dessert in Moonleaf for me. |
POST DESSERT: Pipino – Vegeratian Food by Pino.
Nope, we’re
not here for the veggies, but for the flavoured beers and more dessert! We
tried their strawberry, honey-mansi, peach, lychee, and watermelon flavoured beers.
We gulped down our drinks in no time! Check out my review here.

AFTERNOON SNACK: Mang Larry’s Isawan.
The Famous
Isawan at UP. So famous it even got its own Facebook page. Ever tried buying
more than Php 500.00 worth of isaw? We just did. Have it while watching the sun
set at the Sunken Garden and you’re bound to have a perfect “Iskolar ng Bayan”
afternoon.

Ahhh I missed this place. |
*A
short trip to Van Gogh is Bipolar*
We were
supposed to have dinner here, but the place was fully-booked. Jetro (the
owner) was nice enough to give us a short “tour” around the place. We felt like
we just went through a museum! The place was very interesting and creative, I’d
be looking forward to know how dining here feels like.

DINNER: Gayuma ni Maria
Perfect
place for dates. Don’t expect your date to magically fall in love with you
though. They have an interesting menu and an even more interesting name for
their dishes. Dishes with names like “French Kissing”, “Nilasing ni Eba si Adan”,
and “Beat Sex Anyday” is sure to get your (and your date’s?) attention. There
was some tarot reading too!

DESSERT: The Iscreamist
Ice cream
fun with liquid nitrogen! The line was long but it was worth the wait. Their
desserts are prepared using liquid nitrogen so expect to have some (literally) smoking fun as you gobble up your s’mores and ice cream. Be sure to visit early though (they open at
3PM) to avoid the long wait and so you can get some seats.

Watch out
for my more detailed reviews of each of these places we visited in our food
trip. I’ll be updating this post with links as I post my reviews.
Which other
places do you think would it be great to have a food trip?

ReplyDeleteI've been to Maginhawa pero super saglit lang so we didn't have the chance to have a foodtrip. However, we dropped by Mang Larry's. That was my first time and I totally liked it! Gabi na nung nagpunta kami pero ang dami pa din tao. Indeed, sikat na nga si Mang Larry. Haha,

Grabe I miss Maginhawa, I have a blogger friend who lives there kaya nalaman ko about sa lugar. I miss mAng LArry, totoong napakaraming bumibili at mga nakakacar! Sosyal! hehehe. Yung Iscreamist? Takot ko lang dun, dumidikit sa dila yung nasa popsicle na biscuit.
