Travel Lite: Keeping it Lite with Native Shoes
Who says summer is the only time to get to the beach?
It’s been some time since I last
went out of town (or out of anywhere actually) with my college buddies and I
think we really have a lot of catching up to do. Not to mention that I need to
de-stress and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the pressure
of work! One of my best friends got a place at Catanduanes so we took
advantage of this and made plans to go to Bicol with the gang on late August.
As I took a closer look at the itinerary we came up with, I realized one thing –
this is going to be a wet and wild vacation with all the beaches we’re going to.
Man, I need to get some good beach-hopping gear.
We’re planning to visit several
beaches in Virac and go surfing at Puraran (I can’t imagine how I’m going to do
this since I can’t even swim). Knowing that we could be going through tough terrains on this trip, I knew I had to get the right footwear. My
sneakers won’t do well on the beach and boots won’t be very comfortable for the
long walks. I need to find shoes that are comfy, lightweight, and most of all,
water-proof.
I checked out their website to
see what’s available. They’ve got slip-ons, boots, and sandals with a lot of
styles to choose from, both for adults and the kids. I went to their Kiosk at
Trinoma to try a few pairs and boy they really weren’t kidding when they said
these shoes are gonna be light!
I would have wanted the Howard Peanut that I saw online, but I don’t remember seeing it at the Kiosk so I got
the Howard Beaver Brown instead. I’m not complaining though because I’m happy
with what I got! With its color and design, I’m pretty sure that the beach isn’t
the only place where I’ll be wearing this one.
