North Korea Threatens War with the Release of The Interview!
Wow. Now that escalated quickly.
The Interview is an action-comedy
starring “This is the End” duo James Franco and Seth Rogen. The film is about two
celebrity tabloid talk show hosts who, in an attempt to legitimize themselves
as journalists, had North-Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un as one of their guest
interviewees. Things take a more dangerous turn as the CIA recruits them to assassinate
the Korean Leader. Check out the trailer below for yourself.
I can already tell that this
movie’s going to be downright hilarious! But apparently, North Korea doesn’t
feel the same way about this film (among other things). Fox news reports that
an unidentified spokesperson from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry announced that
“If the U.S. government doesn't block the movie's release, it will face ‘stern’
and ‘merciless’ retaliation…” and “The film's release would be considered an ‘act
of war that we will never tolerate,”.
In a country where they regard
their leader as a supreme, divine being, you can probably expect a reaction
like this one. A lot of movies have already portrayed North Korea as “not very
nice” in the past but this one stands out in particular, probably because this
is Kim Jong-Un we’re talking about right now.
But remember North Korea’s
threats in the past? This one’s probably going to be like the rest. Can you
imagine a world war because of a movie’s release? Well, I guess all wars start
from something pointless anyways.
