Dieting on Delicious: A "Yummy Diet" Review
It’s hard to describe the struggle when you’re a food blogger yet you’re also watching your weight at the same time. Ever since I’ve started writing about food (which I really love!), I’ve gained a great deal of weight, getting to 145lbs from a mere 120-ish.
I recently enrolled for a full-year membership
at the gym, and during the fitness
evaluation, it was found out that my current weight is actually still normal
given my age and height however, it’s the composition of what makes up this weight
that is a bit problematic. My body has more fat than muscle (ouch), and the challenge now is lose (or keep) the same weight with having
more muscle than fat.
As a food blogger I knew that giving up my love
for grub would be futile, so I made it a habit to hit the gym after I indulge
in oh so glorious food. Thing is, I still need a little bit of push to be able
to lose weight, and we know that exercise is pretty much useless without proper
diet. Then there’s the problem of healthy food mostly being…well…not tasty.
My dilemma of wanting to eat healthy food, yet
still enjoy a delicious meal was resolved when I gave Yummy Diet a shot. It’s one
of the biggest diet delivery services in the Philippines, offering various meal
plans such as low calorie, low carb-high protein and meals with cold-pressed
juice replacement. Since I'm looking for the est diet deliveries in Manila, I tried their 5-day meal plan (1.2K calories, no rice) and
it just left me asking for more. Here are what I had in those 5 days:
Day 1:
Breakfast: Ham & Cheese Breakfast cups and Black
Coffee
Morning Snack: Banana
Lunch: Tofu Noodle Salad w/ Orange Sesame Dressing
Afternoon Snack: Fruit Cup
Dinner: Chicken Cordon Bleu, French Beans, and Roasted
Potatoes. Hot Tea
Day 2:
Breakfast: Bistek Tagalog, Crackers, and Black Coffee
Morning Snack: Orange
Lunch: Thai Green Curry
Afternoon Snack: Coffee Cups
Dinner: Fish Fillet with Rosemary & Thyme, Corn and
Carrots, Hot tea
Day 3:
Breakfast: Chocolate Chip Wheat Pancake, Black Coffee
Morning Snack: Marshmallow Graham
Lunch: Stir-fried Kangkong with Tofu, Oats
Afternoon Snack: Washington Apple
Dinner: Black Bean Burrito, Hot tea
Day 4:
Breakfast: Homemade Pork Tocino, Black Coffee
Morning Snack: Orange
Lunch: Lite Carbonara
Afternoon Snack: Peach Mango Cups
Dinner: Cheesy Homemade pizza bread, Hot tea
Day 5:
Breakfast: Egg Muffins, Black Coffee
Morning Snack: Choco-dipped Mallows
Lunch: Tuna Caesar Salad
Afternoon Snack: Mango
Dinner: Spice-Rubbed Pork, corn, carrots & Beans.
Hot Tea.
All the foods that I had were so delicious; it’s
hard to believe that they’re just 1,200 calories per day! I’m not a huge fan of
veggies but surprisingly, even the leafy greens and tofu in my meal tasted
great. They definitely justified the “yummy” part of their name.
But how about the “diet” part? I kid you not when I say that just a week after I had yummy diet, my officemates started noticing the change in my figure. I can feel it for myself too, with some of my clothes fitting better. Of course, I couldn’t attribute it to Yummy Diet alone. I gave my best that week and regularly went to the gym while having my diet (I mostly did cardio because I don’t think I have enough energy for weights while dieting). One always has to go with the other to be effective.
I’m not saying that Yummy Diet is some miracle solution
that’s guaranteed to make you lose weight. It’s more of a convenient meal
planner to assist you with your fitness goals. There are tons of other ways and
programs being offered out there to lose weight, but if you’re somebody like me
who find it hard to sacrifice their love for great-tasting food – Yummy Diet
would be your go-to menu.
