Queso Quest: A Melt Grilled Cheesery Review

People who know me personally know that I DO NOT LIKE CHEESE. It’s not that I’m lactose-intolerant, it’s just that the taste of cheese somehow makes me feel dizzy and squeamish. It’s weird, I know but I have this vague memory when I was a kid of eating cheddar cheese and I don’t know exactly why but somehow the taste was repulsive to me. Ever since, the taste of cheese (whatever kind it is) wasn’t appealing anymore and my mom had to set aside “cheese-free” versions of food whenever there’s an occasion.

Believe me when I say though that I’ve been trying, trying, trying to appreciate cheese better. I can’t deny that those melted cheeses that I’ve been seeing online look so delicious, and I can’t help but envy essentially everybody else who seem to love the idea of extra cheese on whatever they’re eating.

On a normal day, Melt Grilled Cheesery wouldn’t have been my first choice for lunch, given my love-hate relationship with cheese. But even I who is indifferent about this particular dairy product, can’t deny that the thought of melted cheese seems oh so tempting! And so when we had a blogger event at Melt Grilled Cheesery for a well-known bag/luggage brand,  I rolled up my sleeves and had my game face on to indulge(?) in cheesy goodness.

Here are what was served to us during the event:

Melt’s Mac & Cheese Bars – Php 240.00

Imagine mac and cheese shaped and fried into bars. You can drizzle some honey to complement the saltiness of the cheese, or dip it in sour cream. The bars are pretty thick, and I can tell that my friends liked it given how they gobbled up one stick after another.

The Bacon Mac & Grilled Cheesy – Php 395.00

I’m pretty sure those who love mac and cheese would have this as their favorite - much more that it also has bacon, and sandwiched in honey drizzled sourdough. One serving is enough for two to three people.

Cheesy Chicken Roulade – Php 340.00

This is the one that I enjoyed the most because it’s not overwhelmingly cheesy. Seared mozarella-stuffed chicken roulade sits on top of creamy pesto rice. Sour cream, candied walnuts, and baby tomatoes add more dimension to the taste. Honestly, to me it really felt like a glorified cordon bleu, but one that I really liked (because hey, pesto rice).

For dessert we had the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake (Php 235.00/slice) and The Chocolate Chip Oreo Cheesecake (Php255.00/slice), but sadly I wasn’t able to take pictures anymore because my head was already spinning from getting overwhelmed by all the cheesiness. Nothing too special about the desserts, but if you want the cheesier option, go with the Dulce de Leche.

I have to admit that it’s sooooo hard  to review something which you know would be appreciated by most people, but just not you because of personal preference. If you’re an ultimate cheese fan I’m pretty sure that you would love Melt Grilled Cheesery, with the wide variety of unique cheese dishes that they have in their menu.

Sadly if you’re like me who is indifferent toward cheese, you’d be dreaming of adobo or crispy pata if you give Melt Grilled Cheesery a shot….or am I alone in this cheesy predicament?
